The NCJW|LA Scholarship Program is designed to ease the financial burden of people who are trying to better their lives through education in the aftermath of trauma, loss and other setbacks. Our recipients have ranged from survivors of domestic violence to single fathers to first generation college students.
Interested applicants must live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura Counties and may apply for up to two scholarships per cycle. Since 1987, our Scholarship Program has provided over 260 scholarships totaling more than $340,000.

$2,000 THE JUNE MILLER NURSING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
This award is given to women or men enrolled in or accepted to a degree program in nursing. Some units toward the degree are preferred, but not required. Applicants to the June Miller Nursing Education Scholarship are also eligible for the Inger Lawrence-M.R. Bauer award.
$2,000 INGER LAWRENCE-M.R. BAUER FOUNDATION NURSING STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP
This award is given to women or men enrolled in or accepted to a degree program in nursing. Some units toward the degree are preferred, but not required. Applicants to the Inger Lawrence-M.R. Bauer award are also eligible for the June Miller Nursing Education Scholarship.
$1,000 SYLVIA & SAMUEL SCHULMAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
To qualify, an applicant must be a single mother entering or continuing school in an accredited institution in order to learn a marketable skill, which will lead to economic independence. The award is made in two payments of $500. The second payment will be received after written confirmation of status and current school transcripts from the recipient.
$500 THE SOL GOLDBERG CHILDCARE SUBSIDY
To qualify an applicant must be entering or continuing school in an accredited institution in order to learn a marketable skill, which will lead to economic self-sufficiency. The award is not restricted to any field or academic program as the award is intended to ease the financial burden of childcare for a parent in school.
$1,000 THE DODELL WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP
To qualify, an applicant must be re-entering or continuing school in order to learn a marketable skill which will lead to economic self-sufficiency. The applicant must be a woman 25 years and older for whom the opportunity to return to school will lead to economic independence. The applicant can be either married or single, with or without children.
$2,000 THE SHERMAN & FRANCES L. TELLER TEACHING CREDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP
To qualify a candidate must be a K-12 educator pursuing a multiple or single subject teaching credential (includes special education and ESL). The applicant must be enrolled at a University of California or California State University campus in the greater Los Angeles area. The applicant may be a man or woman.
$1,000 STEPHEN L. TELLER & RICHARD HOTSON TV, CINEMA, AND THEATER SCHOLARSHIP
To qualify, an applicant must be a full-time student enrolled in a community college Film/ Television/ Cinema/ Theater program, and preparing for a career in film, television, or theater production, other than acting. Applicant must have completed 12 units of classes in their school’s Film/TV/Cinema/Theater program, and may be a man or a woman.
